Encouragement

STOP IT RIGHT NOW

What?

The thought that the early church was better than the modern church.

Now, understand me, I’m not strictly speaking about the church in the institutional sense but the church as the anatomical representation of Jesus—the body of Christ, Corpus Christi anyone?

It’s time I think to stop idolizing or envying the early church.

Converts then had a difficult time transitioning from their past sinful life to living holy[set apart for God] and living right. The “trick” in my opinion is to understand that the Christian faith is a paradox of “tensions”.

In simple terms, “I’m not where I want to be, but I’m not how I used to be”. I wrote a post of this here.

Now, we need to encourage each other and press towards the mark of the high calling of God.

Don’t settle-this was the difference between the early church and today’s church.

Pretence.Hypocrisy—not confessing our faults to one another, not building each other up.

We are so concerned about denominational loyalty, having our best life now, squabbling over hierarchies and positions, building magnificent buildings; that we’ve forgotten to be disciples of Christ.

Cherrry-picking what verses of scriptures suit us, mixing different strands of thought into our buffet Christianity, I think it’s time to stop and think about if we are merely putting up a show or living for Him who called us out of darkness into light.

Live in light.
